As part of the Canyon Road collection, the Home design team collaborated with seventh-generation Diné (Navajo) textile artists Naiomi and Tyler Glasses through Ralph Lauren's Artist in Residence programme. Naiomi and Tyler reimagined the original designs of their woven art into fabrics, floorcoverings, textiles, and decorative pieces. Built on a shared love of heritage and craftmanship, the partnership celebrates those who have sustained these timeless traditions for generations

The Collaboration

The third Ralph Lauren Artist in Residence collaboration, and first for the Home collection, is part of the company’s efforts to shift from inspiration to collaboration with the artisans who sustain heritage crafts. The programme invites artists to participate in an immersive product collaboration with Ralph Lauren’s creative teams in a mutually beneficial exchange. After debuting Ralph Lauren’s Artist in Residence programme with the three-part Polo Ralph Lauren x Naiomi Glasses collection, Naiomi returns to the programme with her brother, Tyler Glasses.

Naiomi and Tyler Glasses are seventh-generation Navajo textile artists whose woven art reflects their deep connection to their family, traditions, ancestral homelands on Dinètah (Navajo Nation), and the beauty of their culture

Naiomi and her brother, Tyler Glasses, learned traditional weaving from their late grandmother, Nellie Glasses. Naiomi and Tyler would repurpose their grandmother’s unused wool to make their early designs. Using natural, un-dyed, wool continues to be part of their weaving style

Heritage & Design

Naiomi and Tyler's weavings and designs celebrate centuries-old Navajo weaving traditions. Certain traditional motifs hold deep meaning in Navajo heritage and are often recognised as a personal expression of the weaver. These symbols, among others, are found across this collection

Eye Dazzler Diamonds

These geometric motifs, resembling an eye, are used throughout traditional Navajo weavings, and those of other Indigenous cultures

Four-Directional Crosses

Referencing the earth’s four directions, Naiomi and Tyler use this symbol to honour the significance of the number four in Navajo tradition

Spider Woman Crosses

This traditional motif honours the creator and teacher of the weaving tradition in Navajo culture

Our Support

Together with Naiomi & Tyler, Ralph Lauren is proud to support organisations that serve Indigenous communities within Navajo Nation and beyond through this collaboration. A percentage of the purchase price from sales of the Ralph Lauren Home x Naiomi & Tyler Glasses collection will benefit Phoenix Children’s Foundation’s Patient & Family Assistance Funds for Native American Families & the Center for Cleft & Craniofacial Care. These funds aim to alleviate financial barriers like transportation, housing, and treatment costs for Indigenous patients and their families and those seeking cleft and craniofacial treatment at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
